How much does a mobile vet cost?

A mobile vet charges a visit fee plus travel, and the published figures start at $360 with CodaPet.

The reason a flat national price is hard to find is that mobile practice is priced per visit rather than per procedure, and the visit includes the drive. CodaPet describes a total made of three parts: a euthanasia service fee for the visit and the procedure, a platform fee for booking and coordination, and a travel fee that depends on your distance from the vet — which it says is nothing at all in some locations.

This page is general information, not veterinary advice. Which vet is right for your pet, and when, is a decision for you and a veterinarian who has seen them.

The figures that are actually published

End-of-life providers publish more than general mobile practices do, because their visit is a single, known appointment. Lap of Love prints an Appointment Base Pricing figure on each of its metro pages; read across this board's twelve metros on 2026-08-23 those ran from $475 in Phoenix to $560 in Chicago, with the line that base pricing includes standard veterinarian travel. Pet Loss at Home publishes $300 to $600 depending on location, pet size and what is included.

For comparison, CareCredit puts the same appointment done at a clinic at $139 on average for a dog and $158 for a cat, against $410 and $359 at home. Most of that difference is the vet's time and the drive.

Why a mobile visit costs more than the same visit in a clinic

PetMD's account is straightforward: mobile clinics charge an extra fee to cover travel, and mobile vets tend to spend more time with each animal and more time with the family. A clinic sees several patients an hour in one building. A mobile vet sees one patient and then drives.

What moves the price, and what nobody prices

Every provider names the same two variables and none of them publishes a figure for either. CodaPet lists its travel fee as based on your location and says the size of your pet determines the amount of medication needed. Pet Loss at Home says final costs vary with your pet's weight, travel distance, scheduling, availability and aftercare choices. Timing is the third: Lap of Love says an evening, weekend, holiday or last-minute appointment may carry a surcharge of $100 to $200 for its clients.

Ask for the total including travel to your address, not the starting price. Travel is the line most likely to be missing from a figure quoted over the phone.
